Project 180 – PC-0395(14B)/WC-0843/SC-0929, Phase 7B

City of Oklahoma City
Year Built:
Project Cost:
Downtown Oklahoma City

Project Summary:

The City of Oklahoma City was afforded the opportunity to do a $176 million redesign of downtown Oklahoma City that included streets, sidewalks, parks and plazas. This was done from the standpoint of making downtown more pedestrian friendly and improving the overall aesthetic of Oklahoma City. TLS was chosen by Rudy Construction Co. to complete the electrical, lighting and traffic signal portions of one section of this undertaking.

Scope of Work:

  • The traffic signal portion of this project was done on a block by block basis to allow for traffic to flow as normal as possible, during construction. For beautification purposes, decorative poles and mast arms were used to replace the older galvanized poles.
  • The roadway lighting installed on this project entailed the use of decorative poles and LED fixtures. The LED lighting used on this project is environmentally friendly from an energy efficiency stance.
  • The pedestrian lighting that was utilized in downtown Oklahoma City was installed to enable the foot traffic ease of access and safety while they were traveling the urban areas.
  • The decorative architectural lighting at the Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library, located in the Arts District, was used to help highlight the architectural features of the library. This included in-pavement lighting in addition to decorative poles and sconces.
